1 to 1 Blacksmithing Experience
Come and visit me in my Forge and let me teach you my craft
Try your hand at the ancient art of blacksmithing or gift somebody the chance to try theirs. You will get hands on one to one experience, forging small items on the anvil with hammer and tongs with steel heated in the forge. At the end of the day you will have created something to take home with you. Beware it is addictive.
It is possible to come for an hour, half a day or book a full day lesson.
Let me introduce the different possibilities to you:
1 Hour Blacksmithing Lessons
I am offering hour-long blacksmithing sessions for anyone who would like to try their hand at creating something for themselves at the forge. During these sessions you will have the chance to experience the process of shaping hot steel and making a simple piece with your own hands.
This can be a one-off session for those who are curious to try blacksmithing for the first time, or a series of sessions over several weeks if you would like to work towards creating your own finished piece. If you are unsure if this is the right option for your idea, reach out and I will help you.
If it is your first time, we will start with fire and forge safety, forging a beam hook, to begin with to learn some simple technique’s, drawing out, twisting and using the anvil to shape the steel.
We will gradually progress onto making larger pieces that can be completed over a few weeks.
An hour 1 to 1 session will cost £50
For a couple £80
Half Day Blacksmithing.
This session is ideal for those wanting to dip their toe into this beautiful craft for the first time, as well as for those who would like to spend a little more time at the forge than a one-hour lesson allows.
A half-day session gives you the opportunity to slow down, become familiar with the tools and techniques of traditional blacksmithing, and enjoy the full experience of working with fire, hammer, and anvil. With more time in the forge, you’ll be able to focus on shaping your piece and gain a deeper understanding of the craft while creating something with your own hands.
